Poster idea 4

Continuing the band/tour poster ideas, this was the only one that was done on the computer alone.I want to expand on this, and am sketching up ideas for it. I will post later to show progress. My idea was taking the organic feel of the music along with the obviously (in some cases) layered and textured effects and combining them.

Infographic Poster (from November)

I set out to create a loud, obnoxious infographic about music and noise. My only debate is whether the font fits, or whether the colors compete too much with the image. Perhaps I've been looking at it for too long.

Poster #3

I really wanted to experiment with handwritten, illustrated text and came up with this.
Contrary to popular belief, my only inspiration for this was 4 years of sobriety, cheesy comedies and a little bit of P-Funk.

Took me forever to settle on the colors.

Oxbow poster

This poster originally had a hand-written quote all around it, but I didn't like how it came out. I experimented with a different style than I usually do, but too many different ideas made the poster look unfinished and "wrong", rather than the idea I originally had.

I like this, but I feel that something else needs to be done with it. Either go over the type in the background more or make it smaller and add a lot to it. The idea I have is to take the idea of he album name NARCOTIC STORY and add the song names as someone would write them in a journal. After some experimenting, I feel that this fits better than anything thus far, but I'm willing to look into more fonts.

Not trying to make this appear too "cartoony," while retaining the illustrative quality.

Tour Poster 1

This is an idea for a poster I got while looking through a book of Japanese artwork that a friend got me. I chose to do a hand-written type of ink text to the poster to try to give that idea of japanese calligraphy without using Japanese characters.

It's a poster for an experimental NYC band
bloody panda (http://www.myspace.com/bpanda),
with Isis (http://www.myspace.com/isis),
Sun for Miles (my band - www.myspace.com/sfmdoom),
and a friends band - Echoes of Yul (http://www.myspace.com/echoesofyul).
Not a real tour, but one can dream.

I was going to add color to the illustrations, but I ended up really liking the tri color (black, white, red) approach. Any input is appreciated.
